A heavily traveled highway leading to Rocky Mountain National Park has reopened four days ahead of schedule after two aging bridges were replaced.

The Colorado Department of Transportation opened U.S. 34 east of Estes Park on Thursday.

Sections of the highway were closed in February and again in March so two 72-year-old bridges over the Big Thompson River could be replaced.
