Colorado Springs man charged with TSA sabotage

A Colorado Springs man is accused of trying to corrupt the computers of the Transportation Safety Administration (TSA). Douglas James Duchak, 46, was indicted by a federal grand jury Monday.He faces up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine, if convicted.

Duchak worked at TSA's Colorado Springs Operations Center (CSOC). On Oct. 15, 2009, he was informed that he would be terminated as of October 30, 2009. According to the indictment, Duchak tried to sabotage several government terrorist computer systems.

"Prosecution of the defendant is critical to protecting the integrity of the government's security databases," said U.S. Attorney David M. Gaouette.

"The tampering with a computer that is used as a tool to protect National Security of the United States will not be tolerated," said FBI Special Agent in Charge James H. Davis."

The case was investigated by the TSA Office of Inspection, the Department of Homeland Security Office of the Inspector General, and the FBI.
