Continuing struggle to find apartments

Posted : Jan 2, 2010 5:53 PM

Finding the right apartment can take some digging.

Since 2004 the number of open units in Colorado Springs has been declining, which means more looking for you.

"Some properties will only have one or two vacancies," says Tammy Mears, a local apartment locator.

Mears has been finding apartments for people for the last 20 years.

She says people are getting in, but finding the right place may be a little harder.

"You do have to call a lot more properties," Mears says.

That takes time to get the amenities and price you want.

For Mears, she says she's busy, so that brings optimism for 2010.

"The activity is getting a lot greater, there are a lot of people that are moving to Colorado Springs," Mears says. "So I'm very optimistic about it."

You just may want to give some time for the search.
