CSU-Pueblo: Homeland Security Economic Development

Pueblo aims to take a bigger role in Homeland Security, a move that will lead to economic growth and job opportunities. To help get the ball rolling, an Economic Development Forum will be hosted by Colorado State University-Pueblo in April. Representatives from NORAD, NORTHCOM, Homeland Security and a host of policy advisors will participate.
This forum will focus on how Pueblo can play a role in the expanding homeland security industry. Among the questions to be covered are:
? What are the key concerns of federal, state, and military authorities?
? In which elements of critical infrastructure protection are Pueblo area businesses already positioned to contribute?
? How can local businesses and community organizations earn contracts with the Department of Defense?
The forum, "Homeland Security Threats/Opportunities," will be held from 5:30-9 p.m. on Thursday, April 8 at the Rawlings Library Ryals Room, 100 E Abriendo Ave., Pueblo. The event will include an hors d'oeuvres reception and dinner as well as a panel of distinguished speakers representing the government, military, and the University. The cost of the event is $25 per person. Due to space limitations, RSVPs are requested by March 25.

CSU-Pueblo's new Center for the Study of Homeland Security offers certificate classes in Pueblo and Colorado Springs to prepare students, as well as military, law enforcement, and emergency personnel, for careers in this industry.
