El Paso County murder victim identified

A man murdered Thursday night has been identified as Victor San Miguel, 28. He was killed on the porch of his own home by a gunshot to the chest. El Paso County Sheriff's deputies arrested the sister of San Miguel's girlfriend. Denise Presson, 28, is charged with first degree murder.
The shooting happened on Piute Rd off Highway 115, across from Fort Carson.
Deputies say San Miguel's girlfriend and her 12-year-old son tried to defend the victim. "The mother of the children as well as the 12 year old, attempted to intervene and defend our victim, so they will be talked to gain information to help investigate this case further," said Joe Breister, of the El Paso County Sheriff's Office. There was also a five-year old at the home at the time of the shooting.
Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Lt. Lari Sevene said a family disturbance led up to the shooting. The investigation is continuing.
