When you're doing something you love, it shows. At Martinez Elementary in Colorado Springs, third grade teacher Crystal Lannin's passion for teaching comes through in the excitement she brings to class everyday.

"They're just so fun," Lannin says of her students.  "I love how we can do silly, goofy things together, but we can be serious if we need to be, it's just a great age to work with."

Her students seem to think that she's fun too.  Lannin's personality has a way of grabbing and holding onto their attention.

"Mrs. Lannin motivates kids and helps kids be eager about learning," explains Martinez Principal Bobbie Long.

That eagerness to learn allows Lannin to tackle more difficult concepts with her class, like algebra or advanced English.

"I always tell them I'm giving them sneak-peeks into middle school or sneak-peeks into 5th grade, I think we can introduce them to it earlier and they get it, that's great."

Lannin says the secret to her energy and enthusiasm comes from the simple joy of doing what she loves.

"Everyday I go to work and there is not a day where I'm like I don't want to be there," Lannin said.  "And it's not just a job, it's the relationships that I build with the kids too."

We'd love to hear about the special teacher in your child's life.  Click here for an nomination form and instructions.
