A grass fire broke out at the corner of Fillmore and Grand Vista near Coronado High School this afternoon. It started around 1:45 p.m. It burned between 10 to 20 acres in an open field. Firefighters have the fire under control. They will continue to monitor it for hot spots throughout the evening.

No structures were threatened. Coronado students were let out early. Holmes Middle school, which is also nearby, went home as scheduled.

Fillmore was closed between Mesa and Centennial for a couple of hours.
