Another scary rollover accident scene was on the side of Gold Camp Road, Saturday morning in El Paso County. It was another serious accident this week with a teen at the wheel.
"(The driver) Lost control on the dirt, started to rotate clockwise, went off the right side of the road and collided with a tree, came back into the roadway where it rolled one half time, coming to rest on it's top," explains State Patrol Trooper Ryan Novotny.
That was a terrifying ride for five teens this afternoon on Gold Camp Road in El Paso County. Clean-up crews remained after everyone in the truck was taken for medical attention; two by helicopter, two by ambulance and another driven separately.
Troopers say the driver is 16 -- so was it inexperience or just slick dirt roads?
"Probably a little bit of both, with the rain that we've been getting out here on these dirt roads it doesn't take much to make it a different consistency than the normal dirt," Trooper Novotny says.
Road condition may have played a factor; State Patrol is still investigating.
State Patrol says all injuries were not life threatening, but accidents like this one send a message to all drivers -- no matter your age.
"Know that you've got plenty of time to get where you're getting," Novotny says. That's because when you're not careful, you don't just make it to your destination late, sometime you don't get there at all.
The 16 year-old driver was cited for careless driving causing bodily injury.

Well, actually Gary, EVERYONE involved in the accident had their seatbelts on and no cell phones were in use. Everyone except the driver was asleep, so there weren't any distractions. So, please, don't make assumptions if you don't know anything. Not all 16 year old drivers are arrogant, unintelligent, and obsessed with "MOD.DAY TECH". I can guarantee that ALL of today's 16 year old drivers who went through the system properly have more experience and professional training than you, sir, because the requirements to receive your license nowadays are much, much more arduous than they have ever been before in the past.
And don't put this on the parents, they have nothing to do with any of this. This article doesn't mention anything about parents, so you can't place any blame on them whatsoever.
For future reference, if you're going to bash on other peoples' driving abilities or use of technologies such as cell phones or radios or whatever you're talking about, then do it professionally, learn what the purpose of quotation marks are, realize that "MOD.DAY" computers can now type in lowercase fonts, and "DESTRAACTIONS" is spelled "distractions" (this comment box has spelling check for people who weren't as fortunate as to be able to receive an education further than middle school).
Thanks,
Josh

Dear Josh,
I would have to agree with you. I know or know of most of the kids that were in the car and I believe they were safe. What I don't understand is why they were there and if the driver was rested enough or driving slow enough. It is accidents like these that make me worry about the child I have. I only have one and it would break my heart to know that something horrific had happened to her. This is what I say to many young driver, "be careful because you don't know as much as you think or should know." That being said, adults don't know everything either and they should be careful if they are going to condemn the youth, or a specific youth, they should have their facts straight.

Dear Josh,
the main point is that you were responsible for everyone sitting in that truck. You had NO business driving up Goldcamp Road !
Not everybody involved in this rollover was as lucky as you to walk away unhurt.
I'm very upset with you considering how little you seem to care, you didn't even have the guts to get out of your mothers car and shake my sons hand.
I hope you realize what a poor choice you made and that this incident changed peoples life forever!
