Several local peace groups held a protest in Colorado Springs in response to President Obama's announcement that he plans to send more troops to Afghanistan.

About two dozen people gathered on the corner of Bijou and Nevada, waving signs and chanting.  Several groups, CS Action, Coloradans for Peace and the Pikes Peak Justice and Peace Commission, participated.

They said they don't think the President's decision to send more troops to Afghanistan will lead to peace there.  "We're troubled by the number of soldiers who are now coming back with post traumatic stress disorder and we're troubled by the civilian deaths and the number of people displaced in Afghanistan," said Lisbet Rottenborg, an intern with the Pikes Peak Justice and Peace Comission.

Groups like these are holding rallies and protests across the country on Tuesday and Wednesday.
