The Pueblo Police Department has opened a new satellite office on the east side of town. The office is located at 731 E. 4th St. and will be open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. The office will be staffed with a detective and a civilian clerk, plus uniformed officers at various times, including weekends.

Police say they hope to crack down on gang activity, public intoxication and prostitution in the area. In April 2009, News First 5 exposed the on-going problem with prostitution in that area.

The City of Pueblo purchased the building from Posada for $124,000.

This is the police department's second satellite office. The other one is located at the Hyde Park Community Center on W. 16th St. A third satellite office is planned for the Bessemer neighborhood.
