For many families potica is a staple during the holidays and now it comes in a lot more varieties.

At Mauro Farms on 36th Lane in Pueblo County they've been making and baking the sweet bread for more than 45 years. Their original filling is walnuts and raisins, but they also make it with poppyseed or pecans.

During the week before Christmas they make about 400 loaves of potica a day. "We'll have people come in not just wanting one or two breads, they'll say I need 10, 18 or 20," said Carla Houghton, a third generation baker with Mauro Farms. "Christmas isn't Christmas without potica," said Judy Mauro.

A loaf of potica sold for $3 back in 1963. Today it'll cost you $18 for a 2lb loaf.
