Pueblo Police are asking for help solving a robbery that happened on January 31 at a Save-A-Lot, 1110 Bonforte Blvd., in Pueblo.
A janitor told police he was cleaning the front of the store when a man, who apparently had been hiding in the break room, confronted him. The janitor stated the suspect was pointing a .357 revolver at him and demanded money. The victim stated he knew the gun was real because he could see the bullets in the cylinder. It appears the suspect believed the money was kept in a safe located in the front office.
According to the police report, the suspect then ordered the victim to load the safe and a computer monitor into a large trash bin and wheel it out the front of the store. The victim stated he saw a truck possibly a blue Chevy S-10 in the parking lot, which the janitor believed to belong to the suspect. The janitor stated something must have spooked the suspect because all of a sudden the suspect took off running eastbound through the parking lot leaving the safe and monitor behind. The suspect is described as being in his early 20s, approximately 5' 7", thin build, thin goatee, and was wearing a dark blue beanie cap and a dark blue hooded sweatshirt with the hood pulled over his head. Officers did recover the safe and monitor.
