The full Senate has narrowly backed taxing things including candy and soda, software downloads and energy used in manufacturing to balance the state budget.
The measures passed initial votes late Monday night after about 12 hours of debate. The final round of voting may not come until Wednesday.
Bills to tax software, candy and soda and agricultural compounds passed by just one vote as some Democrats voted with Republicans to oppose them.
Debate temporarily came to a standstill near the end of the night after Republican Sen. Shawn Mitchell accused Democrats of working together to allow some members to vote no on the controversial bills.
Democratic Senate President Brandon Shaffer said Mitchell was out of line and refused to recognize him. They later both apologized to one another.

Why dont they find ways to cut spending instead of taxing us more? I am so sick of politicians that dont 'live' in the real world.

What people don't realize is that what may not affect them with one "tax" may with the next. I don't smoke, drink, or eat sugar, but I'm against all sin tax. Who decides what is healthy? It's the freedom of this country that makes it what it is...FREE. If people want to kill themselves with these "sins", let them as long as they pay for their own health care too. I want the govt out of my business and house. I don't want the govt deciding what I can and cannot do, this is not a socialist nation. Socialism has NEVER worked.
