Some Obama Nobel money coming to Colorado

The American Indian College Fund in Denver is one of nine charitable organizations that will receive donation's from President Barack Obama's Nobel Peace Prize money.

Fund president and CEO Richard Williams in a statement said the $125,000 it will receive will be used to support American Indian scholarships at 33 accredited tribal colleges and university.

Obama was chosen for the Nobel award more for his aspirations and approach than for his accomplishments thus far. Obama said he would donate the $1.4 million prize to charity.

Other charities sharing in the prize help students, veterans' families and survivors of Haiti's earthquake, among others, drawing attention to organizations Obama said "do extraordinary work."
