The United Way of Pueblo County has doubled it's pot of money to help the recently unemployed.  The board of trustees announced Tuesday that it had received a $30,000 grant from the David and Lucile Packard Foundation, raising their total matching funds for the 2009 campaign to $60,000.

The money will be used to pay for housing, food and transportation assistance for Puebloans who have lost their jobs in the last year.

"In the spirit of up coming holiday, the David and Lucille Packard foundation have given United Way and the community something to be truly thankful for," said campaign chairman Keith Swerdfeger.

The United Way plans to distribute the money through local charities and partner agencies starting as soon as next month.
