Woman's body cut up, scattered

An autopsy of a woman found dismembered in rural Custer County last month suggests foul play.

Investigators orginally said the dismemberment was likely caused by animals. Custer County Sheriff Fred Jobe now says that an autopsy shows that someone cut her up.  Jobe says that a lack of blood or other evidence where she was found indicates her body was dismembered elsewhere, with the remains left in a rural stretch near a county road.

The victim has not been identified. Police say the woman had dark hair, was white or Hispanic in her 30s or 40s and was from 5 feet 3 inches to 5 feet 6 inches tall and about 190 pounds.

A passing motorist noticed her remains Nov. 24.
